Putting the wall on a screen

Kitchenboard's wall is a web page. Anything with a browser and a way to stay awake works. Open kitchenboard.app/tv on it, and pair it from your phone under Settings, Screens.

Recommended: a Fire TV Stick on a spare TV

The cheapest reliable setup. Install a kiosk browser from the Amazon app store (search "kiosk browser"; Fully Kiosk Browser is the best known) or use Amazon's own Silk browser. Set the start page to https://kitchenboard.app/tv, turn on full screen, and set the TV to never sleep on that input.

Google TV or Chromecast with Google TV

Install a kiosk browser from the Play Store, set the start page as above. Turn off the screensaver or set it to a long delay.

Samsung and LG smart TVs

The built-in browser works. Open kitchenboard.app/tv, add it to bookmarks, and set the TV's power and screensaver settings so it stays on. These browsers cache hard; if the wall ever looks stale, tap Reload all screens in the app's Settings.

A tablet or old iPad on a stand

Open the page in Safari or Chrome, then use Guided Access (iPad) or a kiosk app (Android) so it stays on the wall. Keep it plugged in and set auto-lock to never.

A Raspberry Pi or old laptop

Chromium in kiosk mode: chromium --kiosk https://kitchenboard.app/tv. Disable screen blanking.

Things worth knowing

• The wall never shows a password. Pairing gives that screen its own key, which you can disconnect from your phone at any time.
• The wall refreshes itself within about 30 seconds of any change.
• Landscape screens work best. Portrait works, with a simpler layout.
